Nylon 66 and nylon 6
Nylon 66 is the hardest of the unmodified nylons – although Nylon 6 exhibits greater impact resistance. Moisture absorption of both Nylon 6 and Nylon 66 can be as high as 10% at saturation, and dimensional changes can occur due to moisture pick-up. The low frictional characteristics of Nylon 6 and Nylon 66 results in wear parts with a long life and in many instances eliminates the need for lubrication.
Other grades of Nylon available are Nylon 12, Oil Filled Nylon (Ertalon LFX) 30% Glass Filled (GF30) and Nylatron.
