PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride)

PVDF has a high dimensional stability under heat and has exceptional resistance to most chemicals, with the added qualities of being light-weight and weather resistant. Being one of the most stable and purest of commercial plastics means that PVDF is used in a variety of industrial applications. It is highly durable even at low temperatures and has outstanding UV resistance. In case of a fire, PVDF has the benefit of low smoke generation. Companies within the chemical, metallurgical, pharmaceutical, food, paper, textile and nuclear industries all use PVDF. With excellent chemical resistance, PVDF is often used where corrosive liquids and petrochemical mixtures are used, for example in nozzles and piping.
Characteristics Typical Applications
Improved creep resistance compared to PTFE Valve/Pump Components
Good electrical/dielectric performance Pipe Linings
Good chemical resistance Wire Covering
Wide operating range -60°C to +150°C Seals
Better mechanical properties than PTFE Filter Lids
Excellent radiation resistance Housings
Poor wear resistance Petro-Chemical Components
Pharmaceutical & Food Industries
